Wayne Wheeler, the alliterative general-counsel for the Anti-Saloon League, complains about the New York Republican Party’s plan to abide by the results of the referendum on prohibition. See, the drys intend to boycott the vote, so I guess it shouldn’t count.

He attacks Republican tariffs. He says the way prohibition has been enforced has “given us the bootlegger in place of the saloonkeeper and the gunman in place of the barman.”
